Picnic on the Green

What a perfect day we had for the annual OLGC family Picnic on the Green. The food was delicious and kids all had a wonderful time playing on the super slide and slippery slide. There were over 200 people in attendance, many commented on the live music setting a relaxing feel to the afternoon. Thank you very much to the P&F for the organisation of the day and ensuring it ran smoothly. We really appreciate all parents who volunteered to make it such a great day.

World's Greatest Shave

A few weeks ago we held a Funky Hair Day and three brave people shaved their heads. Thank you very much to Mr Ferrinda, Jaydon and Kyle for volunteering to have their heads shaved. We are all very proud of you. Thank you to Mrs Lilford and the social ministry for organising the day and to all students and families for supporting such a worthy cause.

Harmony Day

Last Friday we held Harmony Day. Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. Our Year 3 class prepared an amazing assembly and shared poetry, song and dance to teach us about some of the many cultures throughout Australia. Many children wore orange in support and quite a few dressed up in national dress to show their cultural background.

The year Three class were then lucky enough to attend Mirrabooka Harmony Day. This was a fun community event with a host of children’s activities including bouncy castle, animal farm, monster slide, face painting, kite flying, drumming and entertainment from local performers and youth. Many schools attended and enjoyed the fun and educational aspects of the day.

Staff Appointment

We have concluded the employment process for Louise Bonciani’s (Teacher Assistant) replacement.  I would like to announce that Jo-Anne Deib will be joining the OLGC Staff. I warmly welcome Jo-Anne to our Staff and look forward to working with her.

Camp

Next week the Year 6 class will be going to Nanga Bush Camp. Mr Carter, Mrs Lilford, Mrs Fanderlinden and I will be joining them on this wonderful adventure. The students will take part in a variety of activities aimed to build their independence, team work and leadership skills.

God bless
